I am not currently registered in WA

I would like to become registered

In order to become a registered teacher in Western Australia, an application for registration must be completed, payment of the appropriate application fee made and then registration granted.

The various application forms detail the information that must be provided for the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA) to make a complete assessment against the criteria set out in the Teacher Registration Act 2012 (Act) and in TRBWA policies.

The Act creates four categories of registration available for teacher registration in Western Australia. Please refer to the Registration Categories page for information about each registration category.

If you currently hold teacher registration in any other Australian State or Territory or New Zealand, you may be eligible to apply for registration with the TRBWA through Mutual Recognition. Further Information is available on the Mutual Recognition page.

Application fees

The application fee is determined according to where your initial teacher qualification was completed. Information on the application fees is available on the Fees page.

Application processing times

The Board aims to process applications for registration as quickly as practicable. On average, currently, an application takes up to ten weeks to process.

Processing times may be shorter or longer, depending on the completeness and accuracy of the documentation and information supplied, the complexity of the application and the time it takes for the results of the criminal history check to be returned to the TRBWA.
